If it is activated, the icon will be displayed in blue. If the icon is displayed grey, click on it to activate your microphone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please check in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/en\/alfaview-app\/alfaview-room\/primary-and-secondary-controls\/settings\/audio-settings\/\">settings<\/a> if the correct microphone is selected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please check in the settings of the&nbsp;<strong>Microphone optimization<\/strong>&nbsp;is set too high. Use the&nbsp;<strong>Optimization wizard<\/strong>&nbsp;to manually optimize your microphone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfaview-callout\">\n<p>We recommend using the automatic <strong>Noise cancellation<\/strong> instead of the manual <strong>Microphone optimization<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Deactivate the&nbsp;<strong>Echo cancellation<\/strong>&nbsp;if you use a headset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"operating-systems-and-webclient\">Operating systems and Webclient<a href=\"#operating-systems-and-webclient\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please check if your operating system or a security software is blocking the microphone usage. If so, add an exception for alfaview.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you use the browser version of alfaview, please check if you have granted permission to access the microphone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please check your <a href=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/en\/miscellaneous\/troubleshooting-and-log-files\/internet-connection-and-network\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/en\/miscellaneous\/troubleshooting-and-log-files\/internet-connection-and-network\/\">Internet connection and network<\/a> you are connected with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"my-microphone-is-deactivated\">My microphone is deactivated<a href=\"#my-microphone-is-deactivated\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can\u2019t activate your microphone, please check the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please check your system settings to ensure that the microphone access is enabled for alfaview.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you use the Webclient of alfaview, please check if you have granted permission to access the microphone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please check your <a href=\"\/en\/miscellaneous\/troubleshooting-and-log-files\/internet-connection-and-network\">Internet connection and network<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50px\">\n<button class=\"wp-block-alfaview-button av-button-main-menu av-button-grey2\" disabled aria-hidden=\"true\" aria-label=\"mic deactivated by moderator\"><i class=\"icon icon-ic_mic_off_24dp\"><\/i><\/button>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If you see a red, crossed-out microphone symbol next to your name in the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/en\/alfaview-app\/alfaview-room\/primary-and-secondary-controls\/participant-list-and-breakout-groups\/\">participant list<\/a>, it means that a moderator has deactivated your microphone. Please notify the moderator in the chat to have the deactivation cancelled.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"audio-cut-off\">Audio cut-off<a href=\"#audio-cut-off\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, microphones may cut-off your audio transmission right after joining a meeting. If this is the case, please adjust the system microphone level or gain. To do so, go to your system settings, then rejoin the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"loud-background-noises\">Loud background noises<a href=\"#loud-background-noises\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If other participants draw attention on loud background noises being transmitted by your microphone when activated, please check the following settings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the&nbsp;<strong>Audio<\/strong>&nbsp;tab in the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-2115\" style=\"width: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/icon-settings.png\" alt=\"Settings icon\">&nbsp;<strong>Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;and check whether the options&nbsp;<strong>Echo cancellation<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Noise cancellation<\/strong>&nbsp;are enabled. If the switch is blue, the option is enabled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Activate the&nbsp;<strong>Treat current devices as a headset<\/strong>&nbsp;option in the advanced settings tab. Then, manually adjust the Microphone optimization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the&nbsp;<strong>Signal processing<\/strong>&nbsp;in the advanced settings tab. If enabled, disable the&nbsp;<strong>Extended voice detection<\/strong>. Then, manually adjust the Microphone optimization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"echo-and-feedback-issues\">Echo and feedback issues<a href=\"#echo-and-feedback-issues\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you use an open set-up like laptop microphones and speakers or hands-free meeting devices it is possible to experience echo and feedback issues. Please check the following settings and conditions to minimize potential error sources:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the&nbsp;<strong>Audio<\/strong>&nbsp;tab in the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-2115\" style=\"width: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/icon-settings.png\" alt=\"Settings icon\">&nbsp;<strong>Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;and check whether the options&nbsp;<strong>Echo cancellation<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Noise cancellation<\/strong>&nbsp;are enabled. If the switch is blue, the option is enabled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure all participants are using the latest version of alfaview.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase the distance between the speaker and microphone to prevent an unwanted audio pick-up through your microphone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid subwoofers in hands-free setups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lower the speaker volume.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check your microphone&#8217;s position and adjust if necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider using a USB headset. The usage of a headset can prevent echo and feedback issues and enhances your audio quality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"adjust-the-volume\">Adjust the volume<a href=\"#adjust-the-volume\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If other participants can&#8217;t hear you or if your audio is unclear the reason may be an insufficient audio volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adjust the system volume level in your system settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alternatively, adjust the volume output in the alfaview app directly. Open the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-2115\" style=\"width: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/icon-settings.png\" alt=\"Settings icon\">&nbsp;<strong>Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;in the function menu. Adjust the volume slider next to the&nbsp;<strong>Sound<\/strong>&nbsp;icon until the volume is comfortable for you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"no-audio-output\">No audio output<a href=\"#no-audio-output\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfaview-callout\">\n<p>To verify that it is not a hardware defect, please check if your microphone is properly connected to your computer or mobile device and test it in another application.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are unable to hear the other participants, please check the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"in-the-alfaview-app\">In the alfaview app<a href=\"#in-the-alfaview-app\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please check in the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/en\/alfaview-app\/alfaview-room\/primary-and-secondary-controls\/settings\/audio-settings\/\">audio settings<\/a> under the <strong>Speaker menu<\/strong> item if the correct speaker is selected. You can also test the functionality of your speaker by clicking on <strong>Test speaker<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click on the video of another participant and check if the <strong>Mute for me<\/strong> checkbox is ticked. If so, remove it to unmute them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50px\">\n<button class=\"wp-block-alfaview-button av-button-status-menu av-button-orange\" disabled aria-hidden=\"true\" aria-label=\"sound off\"><i class=\"icon icon-ic_volume_off_24dp\"><\/i><\/button>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If the Mute audio output icon is displayed in orange at the bottom left in the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/en\/alfaview-app\/alfaview-room\/primary-and-secondary-controls\/#status-menu\">status menu<\/a>, all participants and notification sounds are muted. Please click the icon to unmute alfaview.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"microsoft-windows\">Microsoft Windows<a href=\"#microsoft-windows\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please check the volume output of your computer in the settings or taskbar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please check the volume per application in the volume mixer.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start the Run dialog (key combination WIN + r).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the command <strong>sndvol <\/strong>and confirm by clicking on <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust the volume in the volume mixer and make sure that the alfaview app is not muted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please check the sound settings for communications activity.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start the Run dialog (key combination WIN + r).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the command <strong>mmsys.cpl<\/strong> and confirm by clicking on <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Switch to the <strong>Communication <\/strong>tab and tick the option <strong>Do nothing<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please check if your operating system or a security software is blocking the microphone usage. If so, add an exception for alfaview.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"video\">Video<a href=\"#video\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can\u2019t see the videos of the other participants, please check the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50px\">\n<button class=\"wp-block-alfaview-button av-button-main-menu av-button-orange\" disabled aria-hidden=\"true\" aria-label=\"pause mode active\"><i class=\"icon icon-ic_free_breakfast_24dp\"><\/i><\/button>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Please check if the Pause-Mode is activated. If it is, the <strong>Pause<\/strong> icon in the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/en\/alfaview-app\/alfaview-room\/primary-and-secondary-controls\/\">main menu<\/a> will be displayed in orange. Click the icon to end the pause. The participants\u2019 videos will be displayed again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50px\">\n<button class=\"wp-block-alfaview-button av-button-main-menu av-button-grey\" disabled aria-hidden=\"true\" aria-label=\"camera off\"><i class=\"icon icon-ic_videocam_off_24dp\"><\/i><\/button>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Please check in the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/en\/alfaview-app\/alfaview-room\/primary-and-secondary-controls\/\">main menu<\/a> if your camera is deactivated. If the camera icon is displayed in grey, your camera is not active. Click the icon and select <strong>Camera on<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfaview-callout\">\n<p>As alfaview follows the principle of <strong>You see me, I see you<\/strong>, you can only see the videos of other participants if your own camera is activated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is no other video displayed but your own, it means that you are the only person in a main room or subgroup who has the permission to stream their video.
