You can find the menus to select your preferred microphone, speaker or headset as well as the advanced settings including the features Push-to-talk and microphone optimization. When the switch is blue and to the right of the toggle, the feature is enabled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also test your microphone in the <strong>Quick settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on the <button class=\"av-button av-button--default\">Test mic<\/button> button at the bottom of the window.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The button now displays  the text <button class=\"av-button av-button--error\">Recording<\/button>. Speak into your microphone. The circles next to the button should light up. Select the preferred device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"microphone\">Microphone<a href=\"#microphone\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the <strong>Microphone<\/strong> menu item to open a selection list of all connected microphones. Select the microphone you want to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"speaker\">Speaker<a href=\"#speaker\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the <strong>Speaker<\/strong> menu item. In the section list, you can choose the speaker you want to use. Additionally, you can adjust your speaker volume by moving the slider. Click on the <strong>Test speaker<\/strong> button to to test the functionality of your speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"echo-cancellation\">Echo cancellation<a href=\"#echo-cancellation\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are using a separate microphone and loudspeaker instead of a headset, we recommend that you enable&nbsp;<strong>Echo cancellation<\/strong>. This setting prevents audio being picked up from your speaker and retransmitted by your microphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfaview-callout\">\n<p>If you are using a headset, <strong>Echo cancellation<\/strong> is automatically disabled.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"noise-cancellation\">Noise cancellation<a href=\"#noise-cancellation\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Noise cancellation filters out unwanted background noise from microphone transmissions, improving your audio quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advanced-settings\">Advanced settings<a href=\"#advanced-settings\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>Additional audio settings, such as <strong>Noise suppression<\/strong> or <strong>Microphone optimization<\/strong>, are available in the <strong>Advanced settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"noise-suppression\">Noise suppression<a href=\"#noise-suppression\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the level of noise suppression to better filter background noises from your audio transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"microphone-optimization\">Microphone optimization<a href=\"#microphone-optimization\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend the automatic Noise cancellation. If you want to optimize your microphone yourself, you can use our&nbsp;<strong>Microphone optimization<\/strong>. This feature allows you to adjust the input level at which the microphone picks up your voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Speak in your microphone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move the slider to adjust the microphone sensitivity. Make sure the indicator bar turns blue and moves beyond the slider to the right.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you are not speaking, the indicator bar should be orange or invisible. You can also use the <strong>Optimization wizard<\/strong>. This will automatically adjust the level for you based on a short voice sample.<br>To do this, click the <button class=\"av-button--primary av-button\">Run<\/button> button next to the Optimisation Wizard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"signal-processing\">Signal processing<a href=\"#signal-processing\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The signal processing offers various additional settings to advance your audio quality. These settings are automatically enabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"turn-on-microphone-on-join\">Turn on microphone on join<a href=\"#turn-on-microphone-on-join\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you enable this feature, your microphone is automatically turned on before joining an alfaview room. You can deactivate your microphone at all times in the quick settings before joining a room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"enable-push-to-talk\">Enable Push-to-talk<a href=\"#enable-push-to-talk\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfaview-callout\">\n<p>Push-to-talk can be helpful in noisy environments or when no headset is available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Push-to-talk feature allows you to activate the microphone manually by pressing a button. With this feature, your microphone only transmits sound when you press the <code>CTRL<\/code> key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Activate the push-to-talk feature by ticking the box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"wp-image-649\" style=\"width: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/support.alfaview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/icon-microphone-ptt.png\" alt=\"Push to talk mic deactivated icon\"> <strong>Microphone <\/strong>icon in the main menu is now displayed in orange and crossed out.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To speak, press and hold the&nbsp;<code>CTRL<\/code>&nbsp;key on your keyboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Release the&nbsp;<code>CTRL<\/code>&nbsp;key as soon as you have finished speaking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfaview-callout\">\n<p>If you do not want to use the&nbsp;<code>CTRL<\/code>&nbsp;key for push to talk, you can define a custom key combination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Activate push to talk by clicking the switch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click in the input field next to the <button class=\"av-button av-button--default\">Edit<\/button> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now press the key on your keyboard that you want to use to activate Push-To-Talk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then click the <button class=\"av-button av-button--error\">Save<\/button> button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"show-speaker-status\">Show speaker status<a href=\"#show-speaker-status\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you activate the speaker status, a small speaker icon appears in the status menu in the bottom left corner of your alfaview room. You can mute alfaview by clicking the icon. If the icon is displayed in orange and crossed out, alfaview is muted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"treat-current-devices-as-a-headset\">Treat current devices as a headset<a href=\"#treat-current-devices-as-a-headset\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When this feature is enabled, headset-specific optimizations are applied to the currently selected microphones and speaker devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfaview-callout\">\n<p>The settings are applied automatically and do not need to be saved manually.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"set-default-values\">Set default values<a href=\"#set-default-values\" class=\"av-heading-anchor\"><i class=\"bi bi-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can set all your audio settings back to default. To do so, simply click on the <button class=\"av-button av-button--default\">Set default values<\/button> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfaview-callout\">\n<p>Please note that the defaults will be applied immediately.
